The Project
The built environment – and, by extension, the landscape – represents our memory: it acts as a reminder of the past for future generations. But it also constitutes an economic resource. Today a newly formed ecological awareness helps us discover the intrinsic environmental quality of our historical buildings.

The situation in Italy is emblematic: out of 8000 communes, there are 7750 historical centres. Thanks to tourism and other related activities, the preservation of Italian monuments and historical buildings significantly contributes to the national economy.

In this context, in the past years some interesting collaborations have arisen between local administrations, bioarchitects and, more generally, those operators in the field who are more concerned with the possibilities of sustainable development. Collaborations such as these provide specific examples of a soft approach using preservation and restoration technologies and methods.
