EVENTS/INITIATIVES
From the 31st March to 1st April 2004, the first Surface Show London – at the Business Design Centre – there is a large exhibition of products and materials for coverings for interiors and for the exterior of any kind of buildings. This new, innovative event allows for any professional involved in the selection and purchasing process to easily identify the best finishings and the most appropriate products for their needs. Among the visitors there were architects, engineers, facility managers, design managers and customers.

Organised by King & Roselli Associates, it opened in Rome at the end of October 2002 the ES Hotel, a very modern five star design building. ES stands for Esquilino, the roman hill where it is rooted. ES is also like the Freudian concept of ES-ego-superego, where being is more important than appearing. With a name that brings together tributes to geography and psychoanalysis, the ES hotel makes clear its vocation to cocooning or the art of spoiling the guests, their taste, their body and spirit. An oasis composed by seven floors with 235 rooms, a huge beauty centre, swimming pool with more than 1000 square meters solarium. It is a strong innovative project that transforms ES Hotel in an impressive show of contemporary living where architecture, design and technology serve emotions.

In recent years we have experienced strong changes in design concept and in the approach to hotel projects, both from designers and customers. The European Hotel Design Awards and the Hotel Design Conference were born to underline and signal the best trends. The last version of both events took place on 30 October 2003 at the Royal Lancaster Hotel of London. Organisers: Hotel Spec; EMAP Publications; Timothy Battle Associates and Insignia Hotels.
