The Project
The trullo, characteristic architectural construction of the countrymen from the Puglia region, in the Murge area, is an important example of vernacular architecture. Its form, structure and the equilibrium of different spaces, the openings and the orientation are, in general, elements determined by climatic impact. The building, designed according to the local tradition, uses materials that the site itself makes available.

The climatic element is particularly important because the area of the trulli is characterised by rigid conditions, cold in winter and very hot in summer, with evident thermal gaps in different seasons and between day and night. The importance of the trullo construction from a bio-climatic point of view is that it works as a thermo-regulating envelope of the internal microclimate. This performance is mainly based on three elements: the type of material, the thickness of the walls and the form of the building.
