The Project |
| Anchor Bay High School is a modern 470,000 square foot facility in the growing Anchor Bay School District designed by the TMP Associates. The new $50 million facility encompasses a 100 acre plus campus including state-of-the-art athletic and performing arts wings as well as a first class academic wing. The central area of the building is a large multi-purpose ‘commons’ area that will act as a cafeteria area and a bridge between the academic and activities wings. The school is designed to accommodate 1,800 students with the potential to expand to 2,200 students.
Academic classrooms are organized into two-story smaller learning communities, or houses. Each house will accommodate 450 students and is designed to create a more intimate and interactive learning environment for students. There are general classrooms, science and computer labs. . The library media center is situated on the second floor, overlooking the student commons area. Internet access, a distance-learning lab and a multimedia workroom are incorporated into the center.
The centralized commons area serves as a circulation spine, socialization space and dining facility for students. The performing-arts wing features an 850-seat auditorium, drama classroom, scene shop, video-production studio and dressing rooms. In addition, there are three large rehearsal rooms for instrumental and vocal music, and practice rooms for individual and ensemble groups. |
