CLOSED CYCLE, WASTEWATER REUSE
Around 90% of the Ceramic District’s plants do not discharge wastewater. Instead it is reused within the plant or sent to other sites (external reuse). Around 11% of plants have declared to fulfil their water requirements through wastewater of external origin.

90% of these plants regulate their water balance in such a way that they do not discharge wastewater into the environment. The only external water flow wasted remains evaporation during the spray drying, drying and firing phase. Actual water use from wells or the water supply system is kept to a minimum to restore that water level (for around the 90% of plants). All other water requirements are fulfilled by recycling waste water.
